It’s great to be back writing in the spring edition of Bodmin Life.
I had the pleasure of welcoming the Secretary of State for Education to North Cornwall where we
opened the brand-new Truro & Penwith College STEM & Health Skills Centre in Bodmin. I am very proud of the college and the life chances our children now have closer to their homes, I remember it being an empty field back when I was on the old North Cornwall District Council, to now being one of the UK’s best further education facilities, ensuring our children can take courses at all levels in science, technology, engineering, and health right here in Bodmin, is something I have always been very keen to deliver.
I wrote to Asda to ask them to keep the pharmacy in their Bodmin store open following the recent closure of another pharmacy in Bodmin and with Asda closing this will mean Bodmin will lose 50% of its pharmacies. I made it quite clear to Asda that we want it to stay open, I have spoken to the Health
Minister to see what support can be offered to keep this service open in light of the Government's new Pharmacy First approach, where it will become quicker, easier, and more convenient for people to access NHS care for seven common conditions locally.
I have got a transport survey running at the moment. You can fill it out by scanning the QR code or by contacting my office who will send you out a paper copy in the post.
I hold advice surgeries all-over North Cornwall where constituents can meet, have a chat, and share their concerns with me, so if there is anything I can help you with please contact me via my office by email: scott@scottmann.org.uk or telephone: 01208 74337.
