I’m delighted to contribute to this edition of Bodmin Life.
I was born and brought up just outside Bodmin in the village of Withiel. I went to school in Bodmin before working for former MP Dan Rogerson in Parliament and a US Senator in Washington DC. Like many young people in the Duchy, I reluctantly moved away for work and later qualified as an employment solicitor, standing up for people throughout my career.
Since my selection, I’ve listened to thousands of residents who are ready for change - many feel forgotten by this Conservative Government. The number one concern of Bodmin residents is a lack of NHS dentists. One teacher told me they used a DIY filling kit for a painful tooth because they couldn’t afford private care. I would fight to reform the NHS Dental Contract and increase funding for these vital services. We would reverse tax cuts for big banks to pay for this essential care.
My father Joe Maguire was a GP in Bodmin for almost forty years and Cornwall’s current NHS crisis has driven me to stand.

Candidate for North Cornwall
