Bodmin boxing club produces a national champion

On Sunday 26th March, 14-year-old Erin Brewer from Bodmin Boxing club produced an excellent performance in the Female Cadet, under 40kg category to win the national title in Wigan.

Erin has been with the club only two years, joining the club after the first lockdown. In a very short time she has grown in confidence, becoming a dedicated and a very competitive boxer.


Only in her fourth bout, she took on more experienced Poppy Mills from the Crewkerne Club in Somerset.


From the first round Erin came out dominating her opponent with straight punches and jabs winning the first round easily. She continued in the same way in the second round, dominating and landing her punches.


On Saturday, 1st April the club held a very successful, inter-club boxing evening to a full house with 17 excellent bouts which also included three skills bouts.


The boxer of the evening was Asa Lee who produced an excellent performance in the 59kg to win a unanimous decision. Bodmin boxers were involved in 10 bouts and won seven of them.

The club has extended thanks to everyone for their support and especially the sponsors, with

the four main sponsors being Jai The Jeweller, Proper Cornish, Barnecutts and Viraj Indian.
