BRIN: Supporting the community

Bodmin Relief in Need (BRIN) received more than £6,000 in donations at this year’s Mayor’s Day in May.

A total of £605 was raised by Bodmin’s Wassailers as they sang their way around town on Twelfth Night, collecting donations as they went, and £5,750 was raised by Mrs Nikki Cooper during Cllr Jeremy Cooper’s three-year term as mayor.

Joy Bassett, Chair of BRIN, said: “We are very grateful for the funds, especially as we are currently seeing an increase in the number of requests for help due to the rising cost of living. The situation is getting worse. The number of people who can’t afford to pay for basic essentials, pay energy bills or run a car to get to work, is on the increase.

“BRIN is able to help in a number of ways, such as topping up electric and gas meters and providing shopping vouchers for food or clothing.”

Anyone in need can contact BRIN on 07540 844 662 or be referred by schools, community organisations or local churches.
