Get ready for Bodmin Carnival this August

The revival of Bodmin Carnival in 2023, following a three-year gap, proved a huge success and this year’s event, on Saturday 17th August, is set to be bigger and better!

This year, Bodmin will be represented by Carnival Queen, Daisy-Mae Marshall, with attendants Marleigh-Rae Musgrave and Demi Pope; Fairy Queen, Rhyleigh Sturtridge with attendants Ari Bright and Seren Pope; and Fairy King, Connor Doyle with attendants Archie Howard and Reagan Sturridge.

Carnival-goers can take advantage of the huge variety of entertainment on offer throughout the town, with Energia Samba band playing pre-procession beats on the Folly, Southwest Inflatables providing some fun on the Priory lawn, plus other smaller fairground rides.

The main events start at Fair Park, where entrants will gather for judging from 5pm. Castle Canyke Scouts will be frying up a super barbecue, plus there will be ice creams, cakes and other refreshments too.

The procession, led by Bodmin Town Band and accompanied by Roche Brass, sets off at 6.45pm and follows the route through Higher Bore Street to the town centre, ending at Priory car park. It’s hoped there will be even more carnival entries this year, celebrating all things Bodmin with some unique and colourful floats and fancy dress. Prizes will be won across 14 classes. Cups, trophies and rosettes have kindly been donated and sponsored by local businesses.
