Proper Cornish wins 7 awards at the prestigious British Pie Awards

Proper Cornish, based in Bodmin, has won 7 awards at this year’s British Pie Awards for their delicious pasties.

The competition was particularly tough this year with a record 976 entries across all categories, with the Pasty Category alone attracting 35 entries from 16 different producers.

Proper Cornish received Highly Commended and Gold for their Vegan Vegetable Pasty, Gold for both their Traditional Steak Cornish Pasty and their Proper Cornish Vegan Pasty, with their Spicy Chicken & Chorizo Pasty achieving Silver, and both their Bacon, Chicken & Leek Pasty and Lamb & Mint Pasty achieving Bronze.

The Awards were judged by 151 experts last week in the UK’s Capital of Pies, Melton Mowbray. There were 23 classes including Pasties, Pork Pies, Steak & Ale, Game, Vegan, Gluten Free, Dessert, and Vegetarian.

Chris Pauling, managing director of Proper Cornish, said: "We’re so chuffed to have our pasties recognised with these national awards. When we started the company way back in 1988, we took a stand for Cornish heritage and quality when we started hand-crafting exceptional authentic Cornish pasties.

"Today, 34 years on, still with quality at our core, we work with local farmers to source our potatoes, onions and Swedes from within a few short miles of our BRC AA Certified bakery, based right here in the heart of Cornwall. Our mantra is 'Made Proper to Taste Proper', and we wouldn’t have it any other way."

Huge congratulations to the team at Proper Cornish!
