Fun ways to fundraise

Nicola Cooper knows how it’s done!

Local groups and charities receive donations raised at Bodmin’s bingo nights. It’s a winning combination as people enjoy the evening and the recipients are grateful for a financial boost that supports their work in the community.

Originally the bingo was a one off to encourage people to get out and about after COVID. It soon became a weekly Monday evening event at Shire House Suite.

Nicola told Bodmin Life: "Bingo allows the community to socialise without spending a fortune and the money raised makes a difference to good causes. A win-win all round.”

Organisations in receipt of the proceeds include Bodmin Relief in Need (BRIN), Bodmin Town Band, Lanivet under 5s, Nanstallon pre-school, St Petroc’s Church youth group, Little Berries Nursery, Pencarrow Cricket Club, Bodmin Youth Football, Bodmin Food Bank, Bodmin Christmas Lights and Bodmin Camera Club.

Nicola said: “The bingo nights will continue, and with the community's support, many more good causes will benefit.”

Nicola is no stranger to fundraising. Over the last four years, including when Nicola was mayoress, she and her team have raised more than a whopping £28,000! Some of the beneficiaries areMacmillan Cancer Support, Little Harbour Hospice, Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer, The Cove Macmillan Support Centre Treliske and Mind Cornwall.
